Drop - Terms and Conditions
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") form a legal agreement between you and Drop ("Drop", "we", "us", "our"), governing your use of the Drop iOS application and related services (the "Service"). By creating a Drop account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use Drop.
2. Definitions
- "Household" - a group of two people connected via a shared Household Code, who can see each other's shared content within Drop.
- "Household Code" - the permanent 8-character code used to invite a partner to your Household.
- "Content" - any task, note, reminder, voice recording, or other material you create, upload, or generate using the Service.
- "Subscription" - the paid plan described in Section 7, which unlocks full use of the Service.
- "You" / "User" - the individual using the Service under these Terms.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use Drop. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. What Drop is
Drop is a household task, note, and reminder app. You speak or type something naturally, and Drop automatically classifies it - as a personal or shared task or note, tagged to one of ten categories - without requiring you to set anything up in advance. Drop is designed for two people managing a household together.
Drop is a tool to help you organise your household. It is not a substitute for direct communication with your partner about things that matter, and we don't guarantee that the AI classification will always be accurate (see Section 10).
5. Your account
5.1 Creating an account
You sign up using Sign in with Apple. You're responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure, since it controls access to your Drop account.
5.2 Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate information when setting up your account (for example, your name, which is used to route items addressed to you by your partner).
5.3 One account per person
Each Drop account is for one individual. You shouldn't share your account or Apple ID login with anyone, including your partner - they should create their own account and join your Household using your Household Code.
6. Households
6.1 Joining a Household
Each Household has a permanent 8-character invite code. Anyone who enters that code joins your Household and can see content you mark as shared, or address to them by name.
6.2 Visibility within a Household
- Personal tasks and notes are visible only to you.
- Shared tasks and notes are visible to all members of your Household.
- Items addressed "for" a specific Household member by name are visible to you and that member.
You're responsible for deciding what you mark as personal versus shared. Drop is not responsible for content you choose to share with your Household.
6.3 Leaving or removing members
If you leave your Household, or are removed by the other member, your outstanding (incomplete) personal tasks and notes are deleted immediately, and your account details are deleted. This is irreversible - if you rejoin a Household later (including the same one), you'll be starting fresh.
7. Subscription and billing
7.1 Pricing
Drop costs £9.99 per month, per Household, covering all members of that Household for as long as the Subscription remains active - regardless of which member's Apple ID was used to purchase it.
7.2 Free trial
New Households are entitled to a 14-day free trial. The trial is available once per Household. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your Subscription will begin automatically and you'll be charged.
7.3 Billing and renewal
Subscriptions are sold and billed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Your Subscription automatically renews monthly unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Apple will charge your Apple ID account for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
We don't process or store your payment details - Apple handles all billing.
7.4 Managing and cancelling
You can manage or cancel your Subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current billing period.
7.5 Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple under the App Store's refund policies, not by Drop directly. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
7.6 Price changes
We may change the Subscription price. If we do, we'll give you advance notice, and the new price will apply from your next renewal after the notice period, in line with Apple's requirements for subscription price changes.
7.7 What happens if the Subscription lapses
If a Household's Subscription isn't renewed, all members of that Household immediately lose access to the Service until the Subscription is reactivated.
8. Your Content
8.1 Ownership
You own the Content you create in Drop. We don't claim ownership over your tasks, notes, or recordings.
8.2 License to us
By using Drop, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, transmit, and display your Content as necessary to operate the Service - including sending it to our service providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) as described in our Privacy Notice. This licence ends when you delete the relevant Content or your account, except where we're required to retain it (for example, for legal compliance, or because we no longer have technical access to it on a provider's backend after their own retention period).
8.3 Responsibility for your Content
You're responsible for what you put into Drop, including:
- Making sure you have the right to share any information about other people (including your children, per our Privacy Notice)
- Not uploading anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights
- Recognising that anything you mark as shared is visible to your Household
9. AI processing and accuracy
Drop uses AI (OpenAI's Whisper for transcription, Anthropic's Claude for classification) to interpret and organise what you say or type. This means:
- Transcription and classification may occasionally be inaccurate - for example, a task might be tagged incorrectly, or a word might be mis-transcribed.
- You're responsible for reviewing important items (especially dates, reminders, and anything addressed to your partner) and correcting them where needed.
- Drop is not a substitute for safety-critical reminders (for example, medication schedules) where you need guaranteed delivery - don't rely on Drop alone for anything where a missed or wrong reminder could cause serious harm.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Drop for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another person's account or Household without authorisation
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying models or source code of the Service
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person, including a Household member
- Interfere with the operation of the Service, including through automated scraping or excessive API requests
- Misrepresent your identity, including your name, in a way designed to misroute content to someone else
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
11. Third-party services
Drop relies on third-party services to function, including Apple (sign-in and billing), OpenAI (transcription), and Anthropic (classification). Your use of Drop is also subject to:
- Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions
We're not responsible for the availability or performance of these third-party services, though we'll do our best to maintain Drop's functionality if one of them has an outage.
12. Intellectual property
Drop's name, logo, design, and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond what's needed to use the Service for its intended purpose.
13. Suspension and termination
13.1 By you
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us.
13.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to Drop if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (in which case we'll give you reasonable notice where possible).
13.3 Effect of termination
On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Your Content will be deleted in line with our Privacy Notice, except where retention is legally required.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI classification will always be accurate.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of the statutory rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Drop's total liability to you arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid for your Subscription in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss arising from missed reminders or incorrectly classified content, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Drop harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or Content you submit that infringes someone else's rights.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Drop after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you're a consumer resident elsewhere, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may also apply and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
19. General
- Severability: If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Notice, are the entire agreement between you and Drop regarding the Service.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment: We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.
- Third-party rights: No one other than you and Drop has any right to enforce these Terms (Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 is excluded).
